The concept of Osteria il Paiolo is inspired by hospitality of a traditional Osteria; exquisite traditional mainland Italian cuisine and quality of ingredients and service.
Osteria literally means a place to host. Here, owner Alex Palumbo knows hosting at its best having managed Da Silvano restaurant in Manhattan, which is known for catering to celebrities and socialites. Palumbo creates a warm, fun-loving atmosphere with his laid back and playful personality, yet assures that all clients receive VIP treatment from his experienced staff.
The cuisine is directed by Palumbo, who, being from the north of Italy – Verbania, which is located on Lake Maggiore in the Piedmont region at the base of the Alps – favors stewed meats and polenta, particular meats like baby goat and wild boar and makes almost all of the pastas in house. The house specialties incude a variety of polenta dishes and veal ossobuco. Il Paiolo means a copper pot, which is traditionally used to prepare polenta, a northern Italian specialty.
Quality is of the utmost importance to Palumbo’s concept. The quality of the ingredients is key to providing a delectable and unforgettable dish. Quality of service is also key to this concept, as Palumbo aims to make every client feel at home and important.
